Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan, Atsinna Pueblo (A.D. 1275 – mid-1300s) Description: Squared bone pin fashioned from a large bone splint. Well-polished, but with a broken tip; from Atsinna Pueblo. Provenience: LA 99 (Atsinna Pueblo), MAIN PLAZA, TEST 1, 38.25-40.00 M, 100-150 CM. Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan (Wupatki Pueblo, A.D. 1130 – A.D. 1260) Description: Bone awl or hairpin carved at one end. The carving could be a feather, an arrow point, or the rattle of a rattlesnake. Although not broken, this piece was found in the trash of Wupatki Pueblo. Dimensions: 9.6 cm long (3.78 in). Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan Description: Wood and bone awls or hairpins. Catalog No. 2228 is illustrated in Keith Anderson's dissertation on Tsegi Phase technology. Catalog No. 1008 is made of bone; the others are wood. Dimensions: 4 1/2 X 7/16 X 9/16 inches (Catalog No. 2226). Collection: On display at Navajo National Monument (Catalog No. 15440 - bottom, 1008 - second from bottom, 2228 - second from top, and 2226 - top).
