Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan, Atsinna Pueblo (A.D. 1275 – mid-1300s) Description: Seven worked sherds, including black-on-red, glaze-on-red, and whiteware. One is sub-rectangular with the edges flaked, three have ground edges, one is flaked and ground around the jar finger-hold circumference, and the remaining two are flaked and ground around the outside edges. Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan, Atsinna Pueblo (A.D. 1275 – mid-1300s) Description: Collection of small, flat, oval, round, and rectangular polished bone gaming pieces from Atsinna Pueblo. Thirty-five in total, with some bearing incising marks or striae. Provenience: LA 99 (Atsinna Pueblo), RM 4 Floor, with pebbles in center of room. The area encompassed by Wupatki National Monument was an area of convergence for several Ancestral Puebloan cultural groups, including Kayenta, Sinagua, and Cohonina. Each group produced their own ceramics using a range of vessel forms as designs, as shown here.
