Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan, Atsinna Pueblo (A.D. 1275 – mid-1300s) Description: Medial fragment of a possible projectile point with irregular notching along both margins; made on a tan and white mottled chert. The basal portion is missing. According to Ashlee Bailey, Northern Arizona University graduate student in Anthropology, the point is morphologically similar to San Pedro or San Jose points. Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan, Atsinna Pueblo (A.D. 1275 – mid-1300s) Description: Triangular flaked stone artifact with a concave base made from a medium to fine-grained volcanic material. Although previously identified as a knife, Ashlee Bailey, Northern Arizona University graduate student in Anthropology, suggests this artifact is stylistically very similar to a Cortaro projectile point. If this is the case, it is likely that a resident of Atsinna collected the point from elsewhere, as Cortaro points date between 4300 BP and 2300 B.P., substantially earlier than the occupation of Atsinna Pueblo. Identified by Ashlee Bailey, Northern Arizona University graduate student in Anthropology as a Bajada point, which is an Archaic period point type dating substantially earlier than the occupation of Atsinna Pueblo.
