Tolchaco Chert Clovis Point

Description: Tolchaco chert Clovis projectile point base. Lanceolate in shape and fluted on only one side, this point was thinned by percussion and pressure flaking, followed by grinding on the edges of the base and the lower 1/3 of the sides.

The image on the left is of the original projectile point material. The image on the right is of the same point "smoked" with ammonium chloride to intensify the flake scars.

Dimensions: 4.1 x 2.6 x 0.6 cm

Collection: On display at the Tuzigoot National Monument Visitor Center (catalog card).
