Subject: Louis Akins' "Evening-Grand Canyon of Arizona" painting. The painting shows a view of the Grand Canyon from the South Rim, with a portion of the Colorado River visible, and is thought to be his largest landscape.
This painting has hung in Verkamp's for more than 100 years, and was acquired by the National Park Service from the Verkamp family.
