Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan, Atsinna Pueblo (A.D. 1275 – mid-1300s) Description: Two ulna awls from Atsinna Pueblo. One has a modified head and polish, and the other an unmodified head, slight shaft modification, and some polish. Dimensions: L 18.2, W 3.5, T 1.8 CM (unknown which awl these dimensions refer to; however, both are similar in size). Provenience: LA 99 (Atsinna Pueblo), RM 8, Floor. Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan, Atsinna Pueblo (A.D. 1275 – mid-1300s) Description: Four awls from Room 8 of Atsinna Pueblo, including a large awl fashioned from a metapodial with a trimmed head, polish along the shaft, and a broken tip (front); a well-polished ans smoothed metapodial awl with a modified head and broken tip (front-center); a bird bone (turkey?) awl with an abraded head, polished shaft, and broken tip (back-center); and a broken splinter awl with a slight bevel at one end and a broken tip (back). Cultural Period: Ancestral Puebloan, Atsinna Pueblo (A.D. 1275 – mid-1300s) Description: The catalog lists only three awls with this catalog number, including one polished rabbit (?) long bone awl, one metapodial awl with a modified squared off and rounded head, and one polished splinter awl with a v-cut in the end. The ulnar awl in the back of the image is not listed in association with Catalog No. ELMO 1165. An ulnar awl is described for Catalog No. ELMO 1166, but not pictured. Therefore, it may be safe to assume that the ulnar awl pictured here is from ELMO 1166, where it is described in the catalog as an unworked deer ulna with a broken tip. The missing awl is believed to be the ulnar awl pictured in the previous image and described in the catalog as an unworked deer ulna with a broken tip. The other awls associated with this catalog number are described as a slightly curved splinter awl with a rounded end (center), a brown bird bone splinter awl with a missing tip (back-center), a polishing bird long bone awl (front), a splinter awl (front-center), and a polished deer metapodial awl (back). The brown awl tip pictured front-center is not described in the catalog. Dimensions: L 8.2, W 1.7, T 1.9 CM (back); L 6.8, W 0.6, T 0.3 CM (back-center); L 5.4, W 1.3, T 0.9 CM (front).
