Coronado National Memorial was established as the Coronado International Monument in 1940 to commemorate the Coronado expedition through Mexico and Arizona. In 1952, the Monument was re-designated a National Monument, and today continues to provide visitors the opportunity to reflect on the impacts of the 1540-1542 expedition on the shaping of the Southwest.

The American Southwest Virtual Museum hosts a collection of historic photographs for Coronado National Memorial.
